Movie: The Master and Margarita

Moscow in the 1930s. A famous writer is censored by the Soviet state: his novel is banned and the premiere of his new play about Pontius Pilate is abruptly canceled. Within days, he becomes a pariah.
Stricken with despair, he begins writing a new novel – a bold satire in which the devil, Woland, arrives in Moscow to exact surreal and poetic revenge on those responsible for the author's downfall. Although he knows that this work can never be published in the Soviet Union, his muse Margarita encourages him to write it anyway, regardless of the consequences.
The film weaves together Bulgakov's novel with his own biography, creating a multifaceted story that takes place in three parallel timelines: the semi-realistic Moscow of the 1930s, the fantastic future Moscow of the Master's novel, and Jerusalem in 33 AD.
