Och hur lever arvet efter ljusets mästare Sven Nykvist vidare internationellt?

Den brittiske författaren och filmhistorikern Peter Cowie har följt de båda mästarnas karriär från de tidigaste åren. Han möter den danska filmvetaren Eva Novrup Redvall i ett samtal om samarbetet mellan Ingmar Bergman och Sven Nykvist ur ett internationellt perspektiv.

You often hear that Ingmar Bergman and Sven Nykvist are bigger names abroad than in Sweden, but why is it so? Is it Bergman’s interest in the bourgeois life that, like a remnant of the harsh critique he got in the 1960s, still stand in the way of a broader impact in Sweden? Or has it perhaps always been a question of domestic jealousy? And what is Sven Nykvist’s legacy today, across the world?

The British author and film historian Peter Cowie has followed the two artists’ careers from the beginning. He will meet the Danish film scholar Eva Novrup Redvall in a conversation about the collaboration between Ingmar Bergman and Sven Nykvist from an international perspective.
