Dans och film är ett gnistrande kreativt par. Dessa tre hypnotiskt vackra, svartvita konstdansfilmer The Source, De fördömda kvinnornas dans och Song of Songs kretsar kring frågan om arv. Här finns berättelser om ungdomlig revolt och kampen mellan generationer, om nedärvd religion, och om kvinnor tvingade att föra arvet från det förflutna vidare.
Världspremiär! The Source
The Source är en dansfilm om kamp, hopp och återfödelse – teman som utforskas fysiskt, rytmiskt och visuellt i en berättelse om revolt genom generationer. Filmen arbetades fram och spelades in på Alvastra Cistercienskloster i Ödeshög. Inspirerade av Sven Nykvist utforskande av ljus och skugga i mötet med koreografi, skapas här en filmdikt. The Source är fotad på svartvit film, 16 mm, delvis med Sven Nykvist kamera.

Song of Songs
Douglas Rosenberg, konstnär, pionjär inom screendance och professor på University of Wisconsin visar sin senaste dansfilm Song of Songs, där han inte bara är filmare, koreograf och producent – utan också själv som dansare står framför kameran.
Song of Songs (2021) är en djupt personlig tolkning av den erotiska prosadikten med samma namn som förekommer i Gamla testamentet. Inspelad i svartvitt till tonerna av cello, förvandlar filmen ritual till konst och performance; den förtrollar, omsluter och sveper in tittaren i det sublima, det imaginära och det familjära.

De fördömda kvinnornas dans / The Condemned Women Dance (1976)
Ett mästerverk skapat av en powerduo – koreografen Donya Feuer och regissören Ingmar Bergman. Inspelad i Bergmans lada på Fårö, med fängslande foto av Sven Nykvist.
Fyra kvinnor rör sig i ett trångt, stängt rum till musik av Monteverdi. Två av dansarna är fördömda själar som kommit till liv, den tredje är döden och den fjärde ett barn som fötts i frihet, men som tvingas in i de andra kvinnornas rollspel. Ingmar Bergman och Donya Feuer fick idén till filmen under inspelningen av Trollflöjten där Donya gjorde koreografin.

In the borderland between movement, body, identity and belonging, these three hypnotic black and white art dance films The Source, The Condemned Women Dance and Song of Songs revolve around heritage. The Source is a dance film about struggle, hope and rebirth – themes that are explored physically, rhythmically and visually in a story of revolt through generations. The film was produced and shot at Alvastra Cistercian Monastery in Ödeshög. Inspired by Sven Nykvist’s exploration of light and shadow in the encounter with choreography, a film poem is created here. The Source is shot on black and white film, 16 mm, partly with Sven Nykvist’s camera.

Douglas Rosenberg, artist, pioneer in screendance and professor at the University of Wisconsin shows his latest film Song of Songs. With Song of Songs, Rosenberg has expanded his roles and is not only a filmmaker and producer – but stands in front of the camera himself as a dancer.
—Bergman was incredibly important to my development as an artist and filmmaker from the late 1970’s on. I spoke with my crew on Song of Songs and provided them with images from his films before we began shooting as my intent was to, among other things, pay tribute to their influence.
Song of Songs is a deeply personal evocation of the erotic prose poem of the same name that appears in the Old Testament. Shot in black and white with an original cello score, it evokes a cinematic space that is contemplative and austere. Song of Songs turns ritual to art to performance; to be enchanted, enveloped and wrapped in the sublime, the imagined and the familiar.
The Condemned Women Dance (1976), dir. Ingmar Bergman
A masterpiece created by the power duo choreographer Donya Feuer and director Ingmar Bergman. Recorded in Bergman’s barn on Fårö, with captivating photography by Sven Nykvist.The film shows four women moving in a crowded, closed room to the music of Monteverdi. Two of the dancers are damned souls, the third dancer is death, and the fourth a child born free, but forced into the other’s female roles. Ingmar Bergman and Donya Feuer got the idea for the film during the filming of The Magic Flute in which Donya created the choreography.
