Klintängarna

The scenic cliff meadows along the eastern shore of Limmorträsk have
a rich bird life and beautiful orchids. But here are also some of
Fårö's oldest ancient remains. Up on the cliff east of the swamp
is a Bronze Age cairn, 15 meters in diameter. The cairn is laid out
sometime around 1500 BC. Then the mound was above a bay and
the water level was 10 meters higher than today.

Near the cairn are two flames
and round graves, so-called stone settings. Closer to the gate
is a third paving, right next to the farm road and
just over two meters in diameter.

In the vicinity of Klintängarna there are several house foundations from the elderly
Iron Age, dating to the first five centuries AD. One of
the house foundations are located inside and just south of the gate, there
the information board stands. The house foundation is 20 x 9 meters.
During the Early Iron Age, Limmorträsk was an open lake
water level. Today, the swamp is almost overgrown with ag and
sharp.
The ancient remains in the area are registered as Nos. 64, 119 and
120 in the National Heritage Board's antiquities register
