The horror phenomenon Ari Aster got his breakthrough with the occult arthouse thriller Hereditary and has since shocked and impressed the world with its success Midsummer and its depiction of a derailed Midsummer celebration in HälsinglandThe American filmmaker is also a great admirer of Swedish cinema, has in many contexts highlighted Ingmar Bergman as his greatest source of inspiration and mentioned this year's anniversaries Fanny and Alexander and whispers and shouts among their favorite films.

Bergman Week's guest of honor is interviewed exclusively about his horror-mixed fascination with Bergman's suffering, the horror genre as therapy and about the work on his new horror film, the five-hour long Disappointment Blvd, starring Joaquin Phoenix.

The American filmmaker is a big fan of Swedish film and has highlighted Ingmar Bergman as his biggest source of inspiration – and Fanny and Alexander and Cries and Whispers as his favorite films.
